The first ever ‘Beating Retreat’ will be held at the iconic Old Sarum Castle by Forces charity Alabaré – featuring The Royal Artillery Band, this spectacular military ceremony will take place on Monday 24th June to mark the start of National Armed Forces Week in Salisbury…

Join Alabaré’s Home for Veterans patron The Lord Dannatt GCB CBE MC for a combination of spirited marches, traditional and contemporary tunes as well as poignant and evocative anthems of special significance to our fighting forces everywhere.

Rebecca Mullen, Alabaré’s Fundraising and Development manager says: “Alabaré look forward to welcoming this fantastic event to mark the start of the Armed Forces Day celebrations in Salisbury. We are so delighted that English Heritage’s Old Sarum Castle has agreed to host this event as this will be a first. We are also thankful for the sponsorship of Elbit System which will enable the funds raised during the event to support more homeless Veterans who come to Alabaré.”

All funds raised from this event will go towards Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans which provides accommodation and support for Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. It has 23 Homes for Veterans across the South and South West of England and across Wales, which can collectively house 115 Veterans at any one time.

The first Home for Veterans opened in Plymouth in 2009 and today Alabaré is the largest provider of supported housing for homeless Veterans of working age outside of London. Alabaré was founded in 1991 to provide accommodation and support to people facing disadvantage through homelessness, mental ill-health, learning disability or a combination of these.
