A military charity that supports veterans and serving personnel that have lost limbs, or the use of limbs, are looking for people across the UK to sign up to Blesma Week and hold a fundraising event in their local area…
Blesma Week kicks off on Monday 05 June and will include a bucket collection at London Bridge Underground station. Throughout the week there will be bake sales, BBQs, pub quizzes and other bucket collections at selected London Underground stations.
On Thursday 08 June, the Inter-services T20 cricket match will take place at Lord’s Cricket Ground with the Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy teams competing against each other. Blesma is the official charity for the day.
Last year, the week raised over £50,000 and included events such as a 100 mile cycle ride, BBQs and a 24hr hand-bikeathon. This year the charity’s Fundraising Team are hoping to hit the same target.
Another way to support Blesma Week is to purchase Grand Prize Draw tickets at £1 per ticket. The first prize is £1,000,! kindly sponsored by Centro PLC.
Zanika Fearon, Blesma’s Community & Events Fundraising Manager, says: “We are looking for as many people as possible to help us raise awareness and money for injured veterans. Without fundraising events we wouldn’t be able to carry on with the vital work we do, so please come to us with your ideas, or get in touch and let us inspire you!”
