With 41,000 cadets (aged 12-18) in over 1,600 locations in communities all around the UK, the Army Cadet Force (ACF) is one of the country’s biggest and best voluntary youth organisations…

Many volunteers with a military background excel in helping us to deliver the broad range of adventurous and military themed activities our cadets really love. Join us as an adult volunteer and you’ll be working with a range of people (former military and civilians) who enjoy working with young people and making a real difference to their communities.

Our volunteers consistently give the ACF top marks for fun and friendship and for the pleasure they get from helping young people. There are practical benefits too. Volunteering with the ACF will give you new skills and training opportunities to help you build your CV and move up the career ladder at work.

Alongside your general training to help you instruct cadets, you will be able to work your way up the ACF rank structure as an Adult Instructor or Officer. You can also choose to take training courses and gain qualifications in a wide range of specialist areas from mountain leadership, sports leadership and scuba diving through to music, leadership and management courses.

We provide expenses for attending training, annual camp or for undertaking a number of other duties, so while you’re having fun and putting your military skills to good use you won’t be out of pocket.

So if you think you could give up one to two evenings a week and want to do something really rewarding with your free time the Army Cadets would love to hear from you.
