The BFBS Germany team has won a Bronze EVCOM Clarion award in the Brand Communication/Experience (Screen) category…

#ManOnTheChally – a parody of John Lewis’ 2015 Christmas advert – was made with the help of troops based in Paderborn Garrison.

Speaking from the ceremony in London, Forces Radio Presenter and Producer, Aimee Dewitt, said: “It was an honour to get an award in such a strong category. We were up against the Royal British Legion and the Ambulance Service so to get placed amongst them was really special.”

With the poignant strapline ‘Show someone they’re loved this Christmas’, #ManOnTheChally highlights how military families are often apart during the festive period. A Challenger 2 tank – borrowed from the Queen’s Royal Hussars – is central to the video, and soldiers serving in the local British Forces Post Office also star in cameo roles.

BFBS Presenter, Chris Keen, features in the video as the soldier and dad. He said: “I wasn’t expecting to win the first gold award for the digital video, so to win another trophy is amazing! We loved putting the film together and it really shows how powerful social media can be. Perhaps we should now start making an award-winning Christmas video for this year!”

#ManOnTheChally wasposted on the BFBS Radio Facebook page and has had more than 508,000 views and over 3,700 ‘likes’.

The annual EVCOM Clarion Awards highlight companies that produce outstanding work to communicate issues such as diversity, equality, community, charity and welfare.
