Blind Veterans UK is inviting residents of Gwynedd and Conwy to attend a volunteer open day…

The charity is looking for prospective new volunteers to support the Regional Fundraising Team in a variety of different activities and roles within the area.

With an extensive range of upcoming events, the charity is particularly on the lookout for volunteers to assist with manning stalls, taking registrations, promoting events and much, much more to be revealed on the day.

Attendees on the day will also have the opportunity to discover how the training and support provided by the organisation enables veterans living with sight loss to lead fulfilling and independent lives.

The charity’s staff members will also be on hand to discuss their work and demonstrate the life changing equipment and services they use to any other visitors who would like to find out more about the charity or potentially know a veterans who may benefit from our support.

Victoria Beech, Blind Veterans UK Regional Fundraiser, says: “Open days are a great way of reminding the local community about the work we do and why it’s so important to the lives of the veterans we support. Our volunteers are vital in supporting us in raising funds and this event will be a great opportunity for others to find out how they can contribute.

“We have a range of exciting events coming up this year, so there has never been a better time to get involved!, whether you have a few hours, one day a year or one day a week to give – you could make a difference and help us support our Blind Veterans.”

Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the centre’s recently installed, ‘Victory Over Blindness’ sculpture, an artwork demonstrating the bravery and determination of the blind veterans returning home from the First World War.

The Blind Veterans UK Volunteer Open Day will take place on Saturday 21 April from 10am to 1pm. Admission is free, though donations to the charity would be warmly received.
