MilitarySkills.co.uk was set up by Stu Olden and Kenny Matheson, two retired British Army Officers, who between them have over 60 years service, and who wanted to find a way of promoting the highly transferable skills and extensive experience of ex-forces personnel to civilian employers.
Unlike traditional recruitment organisations that provide a focal point for job seekers to search for current vacancies, we focus on helping the ex-forces individual to ‘sell’ themselves. When an individual registers, for free, we start the process of helping to translate their skills and experience into language prospective employers will understand, then look to actively promote them within the market sector they are best suited to. This may involve assisting them with CV writing, identifying training partners, as well as getting individuals ‘front and centre’ with employers operating in areas where they want to settle’.
MilitarySkills.co.uk is an online service, enabling forces personnel from all three services to list their skills, experience, job and geographic preferences for employers to search and review 24 hours, 7 days a week. If an employer likes the look of an individual they request a full CV to be provided for further consideration, before liaising with us to arrange to meet the candidate.
