The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust has made another 31 awards under the Local Grants programme…

More than half a million pounds has been awarded to projects across the UK who are tackling community integration and delivery of local services to Service communities. The Trust were pleased to have awarded more than £100,000 in this round to projects in the Devolved Regions of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The Church Homeless Trust received £19,622 to develop a veterans’ artisan bakery – involving veterans affected by homelessness, and their families, to engage in therapeutic baking, cooking and gardening activities.

This was the penultimate round of the programme, which has successfully supported groups for five years and made awards to more than 670 worthy projects. The Trust is already in the process of developing a new funding programme, based on the needs of the community they support.

Director of Policy and Communications at the Trust, Sonia Howe, explains: “We’re thrilled that the Local Grants programme continues to provide simple-to-access funding to local communities throughout the UK. We know from the feedback we receive from groups that these awards can make a huge difference, and we’re confident that this round of funding will be no exception.”

The final round of this programme closed on 29 November. If groups have applied to that round, they’ll receive a decision in February 2020.
