Singer-songwriter Andrew Roachford has recorded a unique live session for BFBS Radio listeners…

The programme opens with a powerful rendition of his 80s hit, Cuddly Toy, and between the music the artist chats to Richard Hatch about his long career and latest covers album, Encore.

The one-hour special will be broadcast on BFBS Radio on Saturday 16th April at 1pm (UK), and on BFBS Radio 2 on Sunday 17th April at 7pm (UK).

From Encore, Roachford sings an emotive version of the David Gray classic, This Year’s Love, and also performs his own 90s track, Only To Be With You.

The singer talks about his work with Roachford the band, his solo career, and recent tours with Mike + The Mechanics. He also shares his musical influences, from stars such as Stevie Wonder and James Brown, to his inspirational uncle who served with a military band in Barbados.

And in amongst some quick-fire questions, Roachford reveals the song he’d like to have written, his signature dish, and why he’d like to be reincarnated as a cat!
