So, what is Transition? First of all, Transition is not Resettlement…
Transition is the planning & preparation done prior to Resettlement to allow Service Personnel and their families to plan for a successful military career and to prepare for their inevitable return to civilian life.
Transition is Individual Planning and Personal Development. It is about taking personal responsibility for your financial circumstances, so that when you leave the Armed Forces you are financially prepared. It is about taking every opportunity offered by the Military to enhance your education and training – obtaining qualifications and civilian accreditation to give you the best possible chance of securing the best job on leaving the Army. It is about ensuring that you have thought about the future, where you may wish to settle with your family and how you are going to make that future move.
To that end, Transition is the through-career offer of support, advice and education that supports personal development, focused on the 5 pillars of Employment, Education, Health, Housing & Welfare.
HQ 1 Artillery Brigade & South West, with support from Wiltshire Council, Swindon Borough Council & Career Transition Partnership will be holding the SW Armed Forces Transition Fair in Tidworth Leisure Centre on Wednesday 23 March 2016. The event will host over 80 stands – a large number of local employers looking specifically to recruit Service Leavers, Veterans or spouses, along with numerous stands providing information and advice on local charities, welfare agencies, health, housing, training and education opportunities.
Concise one-to-one personal coaching sessions will also be available to help individuals address changes in career, life and/or health & welfare. These sessions will be free of charge and confidential.
The SW Armed Forces Transition Fair is free to attend. All Service Personnel & their families, as well Service Leavers are encouraged to attend. No matter what stage you are in your career, there will be something of interest for you and you family.
