Pathfinder International’s first ever resettlement expo is now only 2 days away.

Held on Thursday November 1 at St James’ Park, Newcastle, the event focuses on an array of elements for service personnel and veterans going through transition in their lives.

We will be highlighting the various elements in our preview of the event, continuing today with a look ahead to what general help and advice is available on the day.

Pathfinder editor, Mal Robinson, explains a little more…

“We conclude our in depth preview of the expo with a look at general advice available on the day.

Yorkshire Housing will be on hand explaining the “Help To Buy” scheme in further detail and how you can apply, especially with the final December deadline approaching for the scheme.

Nick Wood will be leading the Military Human stand as part of York St. John University. Nick will be delivering the first Guest Speaker talk on the day at five past ten, so not long after the event opens, but please make sure you make time to head over to see Nick straight away.

Nick delivers the Military Human course and covers an array of topics on leaving the forces and what to look out for. I have been fortunate to attend one of Nick’s classes previously and being ex-forces myself, I took a lot of things for granted. Having attended the Military Human course, it opened my eyes to a lot of things and had I done some of the tips Nick suggests in the first instance, it would have saved me a lot of hassle.

Tickets for Nick’s break out sessions can be reserved here, or simply head over to the presentation area on the day. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/armed-forces-veterans-resettlement-expo-guest-speaker-nick-wood-tickets-51754775928

Gorvins solicitors will also be present looking to speak to anyone about their holistic service and maximising chances for compensation for any injuries or losses incurred in service.

Riverside Housing and Launchpad will be offering housing advice and speaking to veterans about their SPACES service, which has helped many veterans find accommodation. Launchpad is a charity providing veterans with self contained accommodation. If you have any concerns over accommodation – please visit their stand.

Finally, in the help and advice section, we have Steve Heaney MC leading the X Platoon stand. Steve will be providing a Guest Speaker session too and his talk begins at 13:10. Steve will be speaking about an array of elements including CV writing and the art of translating your military CV into a resume the civilian world will understand, how to sell yourself and he will be talking about his own transitional experiences on leaving the Parachute Regiment and setting up his own business, X Platoon. Tickets can be reserved for Steve’s talk here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/armed-forces-veterans-resettlement-expo-guest-speaker-2-steve-heaney-mc-tickets-51755021663

All in all, the event is set to be a tremendous military spectacle and not to be missed.”
