So where are our troops dotted around the globe over the festive period for 2019? The list below includes some of the locations the UK’s military is active…

• Afghanistan – around a 1,000 troops are currently training UK allies.
• Estonia – 850 Queen’s Royal Hussars are here for NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence operations.
• Iraq – around a 1,000 troops are stationed in a training role.
• Mali – 90 troops are present assisting French forces in counter terrorist duties.
• Poland – 150 Royal Scots Dragoon Guards are deployed.
• Falklands – 1,000 troops are stationed here.
• South Sudan – Troops are here in a peacekeeping capacity.

In addition to these areas, units are on standby on home soil, whilst 14 Naval ships will be at sea over Christmas, including 1 submarine.
