Veterans’ Foundation marks 10 years with more than £37 million awarded in grants

The Veterans’ Foundation has marked its 10th anniversary after awarding more than £37 million to organisations supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families across the UK.

Since launching, the charity has awarded 1,493 grants to 580 organisations, ranging from national charities to local grassroots groups. The funding has supported services covering mental health, PTSD, homelessness, employment, training and community connection.

The foundation said demand for support continues to grow, with annual grant funding rising from £57,000 in 2017/18 to £8.85 million in 2024/25. So far this year, it has awarded more than £5.7 milion, and aims to reach £40m in total funding by the end of 2026.

Many organisations receive repeat or multi-year grants, helping them maintain and expand services over time.

Mark Ormrod MBE, Veterans’ Foundation ambassador and former Royal Marine, said the charity’s work helped ensure veterans could access support “at the right time”, adding that the impact should be measured in lives changed as well as funding totals.

Jane Gurney, chief executive of the Veterans’ Foundation, said long-term investment in frontline services had become increasingly important as more members of the Armed Forces community seek support.
