The Scottish Veterans Awards takes place tomorrow in Edinburgh and Pathfinder International magazine caught up with founder and owner of Joint Force Alba, Emma Davies, the main sponsor for this year’s awards for her take on the forthcoming event…

Pathfinder’s interview with founder of Joint Force Alba, Emma Davies and her reasons for supporting the Scottish Veterans Awards

You are the main sponsor this year, you must be looking forward to a fantastic evening?

“I’m so excited that Joint Force Alba is sponsoring the Scottish Veterans Awards for it’s second year. I set up Joint Force Alba in 2019 and not long after came across the Veterans Awards vision for spreading the positive new stories about Veterans. I got Joint Force Alba involved as a Category sponsor but then COVID delayed the event. But thankfully, it looks like year 2 can go ahead as planned & we’re delighted to have been able to be the main sponsor for the Scottish Awards this year.”

Why do you support the awards?

“For me, it’s a no brainer to support these Awards. Firstly, I and most of my team are Veterans and we are an exclusively ex-military recruitment company. But also, the Veterans Awards purpose matches ours. It’s about promoting the amazing abilities of Veterans in “civ div”. An added benefit for us is that these awards focus on Scotland which is where we support our candidates to find new roles with Forces friendly employers.”

Why are things like these awards so important for the military community?

“Veterans generally aren’t that great about promoting themselves. I see that from an employment context where our ex-military candidates sometimes undersell their amazing achievements and abilities to employers. So these awards give a platform to allow Veterans to be recognized. And it’s especially important to see so many of the nominations being made by friends, family and colleagues of the finalists. Hopefully that goes some way to explaining the context of what Veterans can deliver in life after the Forces.”

About the Veterans Awards – A Word From The Team…

The Veterans Awards is a registered Not for Profit Organisation that promotes all the positives from our Military Community!

We celebrate the success and inspiring stories from our community by promoting them via our social media channels, networks and fantastic media partners that include Pathfinder International Magazine.

We have a Board of Directors and an Inspirational panel in place who operate in a voluntary capacity to run Veterans Awards CIC, ensuring all money raised above project costs goes back into our Veteran Community and is used to improve services or to run projects that will help our Veterans and community. To find out more about our board of Directors please click here

Our Veterans Awards team are proud to have links to a number of Military Veteran role models and specialists in the areas health, well-being, fitness, business, employability, housing and Sport.

In the UK, we have a huge number of highly successful Armed Forces Veterans that have made the transition from the Military to civilian life and we want to reward these veterans who have gone above and beyond and excelled in their relevant fields. They will act as role models for future service leavers. We want to find the people who even during the most difficult periods have excelled!

As such, we feel they should be given every opportunity to highlight their achievements and success, which is why the awards and our other projects have been created.

The Veterans Awards are open to all our Military Veterans that are doing great things in the UK, Reservists that are going above and beyond and those companies that go the extra mile to support or recruit from our community!

If you are a Company or Organisation that wish to become one of our Partners or Sponsors at our Awards or projects please feel free to get in touch. We have a number of fantastic companies that currently support us and we are so thankful to them because without these companies we wouldn’t be able to do what we do! We will ensure we work with you and your team or building a strong relationship and partnership.

If you have a positive story or journey please get in touch and we are happy to promote it via our social media sites through our media team!

Remember it’s you that will act as a role models for future service leavers!”
