An award-winning video produced by the BFBS Germany team has been shortlisted for another accolade at the 2016 EVCOM Clarion Awards…

The two-and-a-half-minute digital film, #ManOnTheChally, was BFBS Radio’s parody of the 2015 festive John Lewis advert, and has the strapline ‘Show someone they’re loved this Christmas’.

Radio presenter, Chris Keen, plays the role of the soldier and dad. He said: “We made the video to show people who aren’t in the forces what it’s like for those in the military to be posted away from their loved ones at Christmas. It was so good winning gold at the Screen Awards as there were many other great videos and so much competition. We were over the moon, so to be nominated again is amazing!”

Military units based in Paderborn Garrison offered the broadcasters kit and equipment to use as props for the filming, and the Queen’s Royal Hussars even lent BFBS a Challenger 2 tank.

Co-Producer, Aimee Dewitt, said: “I never imagined that our little iPhone video would connect with so many people, and I can’t quite believe that it has been nominated for another award. I feel so proud to have created some content that champions the Armed Forces and some of the struggles they face when away from home and family.”

#ManOnTheChally was posted on the BFBS Radio Facebook page and has had more than 508,000 views and over 3,700 ‘likes’.

The annual EVCOM Clarion Awards highlight companies that produce outstanding work to communicate issues such as diversity, equality, community, charity and welfare.

The winners of the 2016 EVCOM Clarion Awards will be announced in London on Friday 7th October.
