The Officers’ Association (OA) opened its new office in York on Tuesday 15th August.

The OA is a charity that supports serving and former officers to find new careers after leaving the military. The Employment Team provides confidential, impartial and practical advice on all aspects of transition and employment. You can register with the OA for free to access jobs and training opportunities, including weekly webinars and networking events. The OA also provides financial support to former officers and their dependants if they find themselves in need.

The York office will be the OA’s base for organising events and liaising with stakeholders in the North of England. The previous office was in Leeds, but has relocated because of the improved travel links and the fact that many formers officers live in and around York. The office will be based in the Innovation Centre next to the University of York, which reflects the OA’s commitment to develop new and cutting-edge ways of supporting officers.

The OA organises a range of events in the region, including a recent OA Employment Symposium held in York. The event brought together employers, industry experts and the OA network to provide relevant plenary sessions, career advice and industry focused insights for those in transition or considering a second career change.

In addition to the new office, Esme Dickson has recently joined the OA as an Employment Services and Events Coordinator. She is based in the York office, helping to deliver more events and support to former officers.

Pete Liddle, Regional Business Development Manager (North), said: “As the regional strategy for the OA progresses, the new office will make us more effective when delivering services to the officer community in the North. From September, we have confirmed a series of engaging events that will support serving and former officers into new careers after leaving the military.”

The next event is North West Careers Access Fair, in Manchester on the 7th September 2017. Attendees will discover employment opportunities in the region. Register your place now: www.officersassociation.org.uk/employment/events.
