Today (Tuesday April 21, 2020) is the 94th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our reigning Monarch.

Today is the Queen’s day of birth, but not her official birthday which takes place on the second Saturday of June. The official birthday is a time honoured tradition put in place to ensure the British public would enjoy nice weather to celebrate their Monarch’s birthday.

There will be muted celebrations no doubt with the birthday anniversary arriving during the COVID19 lockdown.

Royal birthdays and anniversaries are typically celebrated and marked by ceremonial gun salutes from various locations around London. However, this year the Queen felt it inappropriate to mark the occasion in this manner, given the current circumstances around the coronavirus.

The Trooping of the Colour has also been cancelled this year in line with COVID19 restrictions.

The Queen is currently staying at Windsor Castle with husband, Prince Phillip.

As the Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces, everyone at Pathfinder International magazine, wishes Her Majesty the very best of health on her 94th birthday.
