Look North Grooming & Training Centre Ltd has been established for 40 years and is a highly professional pet grooming salon and groomer training centre. All of our grooming staff is City & Guilds qualified and they have extensive knowledge, not just from experience and the continuous study of changing products and techniques, but also a desire to understand the requirements of pet and owner alike.

Look North is the place to come for professional tuition. Zoe Duffy and Joanne Angus have built up their experience over many years in the industry, winning and judging at grooming competitions not just in the UK but throughout Europe and also the USA. Both have previously taught at college, achieved grooming and teaching qualifications to the highest standard and are both City & Guilds examiners. Joanne is also an original founder of the Guild of Master Groomers. As such they understand the desired current standard of grooming and are keen to pass this knowledge onto our students.

The student training takes place in two rooms within the working salon to enable experience of the busy hustle and bustle of commercial grooming. It is restricted to 4 students, with staff members giving input during the first week while students are learning how to bath, dry and handle the dogs correctly. The tutor directs all her time to tuition giving the students the confidence they need to enjoy the learning process and to progress at their own speed.  All students receive hands on practical experience from day one with theory work that is completed in their own time.

Candidates who are applying for ELCAS funding must be aware that the funded amount can only be offset against the Level 3 part of the course. However before you can complete this you must gain the Level 2 qualification which would have to be fully funded by the candidate. These two qualifications are incorporated into one course; the 32 day City & Guilds course.

This course includes the City & Guilds qualifications Level 2 Dog Grooming Assistant and Level 3 Dog Grooming Diploma. It covers everything from the practical skills required to be a groomer to the in-depth knowledge of working safely with consideration for the dog’s welfare.

Included in the course is an equipment set, a study book ‘What Every Professional Groomer Should Know’, an online canine first aid course, Emmi Pet ultrasound tuition, the Emmi Pet starter pack, a year’s free membership to the British Isles Grooming Association and a discounted joining fee for The Groomers Spotlight.

From working for someone else to running your own business, either static or mobile, Look North can give you the tuition and confidence you need to move forward with your new career. The only thing you need to bring with you is your enthusiasm to work with dogs and the desire to learn.
