SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has opened registration for its 2026 13 Bridges Challenge, which will take place in London on Saturday 27 June to mark Armed Forces Day.
The annual fundraising walk invites people of all ages and abilities to complete a 10-mile route across 13 of London’s bridges, while raising awareness and support for the Armed Forces community.
Walkers will follow a criss-cross route through the capital, taking in riverside views, well-known landmarks and the atmosphere of Armed Forces Day. Military event marshals will be positioned at each end of the bridges, and at other key points along the course, to guide participants and talk about their roles within the military.

The event is open to families, friends, veterans, serving personnel, supporters and four-legged companions. Participants can choose a start time when registering, with groups encouraged to book the same slot if they wish to walk together.
Verity Harding, Head of Events at SSAFA, said: “The 13 Bridges Challenge is a truly special event that brings people together from all walks of life to celebrate and support our Armed Forces community.
“Whether you’re walking in honour of a loved one, supporting veterans and serving personnel, or simply looking to be part of an incredible day in London, we would love to see you there.”
Those unable to attend in London can also take part through the 13 Bridges Virtual Challenge, choosing their own date, distance and location.
The London walk will finish at Battersea Park, where Wandsworth Armed Forces Day celebrations will be taking place. The free event will include food and drink stands, children’s activities, military and cadet unit displays, vintage military vehicles, emergency services vehicles, games, giveaways and live entertainment.
SSAFA said the event has become one of its flagship fundraising and community activities, giving participants a chance to show their support for serving personnel, veterans and their families.
